Description
Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized
by hyperglycemia which occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin
action or both. One of the complications that arises is diabetic wounds. Diabetic
wounds are infections, ulcers and/or deeper tissue damage associated with
neurological and vascular disorders in the legs. Research Objective: To determine
nursing care in overcoming the problem of diabetic wound complications with
diabetic ulcer patients using the application of Modern Dressing wound care with the
Moist Wound Healing method for diabetic ulcer patients in the Internal Room at
Prof.DR.H.M. Regional Hospital. Chatib Quzwain, Sarolangun Regency. Literature
Review: Diabetes mellitus is Diabetes mellitus is a heterogeneous group of disorders
characterized by increased blood glucose levels or hyperglycemia. In diabetes
mellitus the body's ability to react to insulin can decrease or the pancreas can stop
insulin production altogether (Brunner & Suddart 2016). Diabetic ulcers are non-
traumatic lesions on the skin (some or all of the layers) on the feet of people with
diabetes mellitus. Diabetic foot ulcers are usually caused by repetitive stress
(shearing and pressure) on the feet in the presence of diabetes-related complications
of peripheral neuropathy or peripheral arterial disease, and healing is frequent.
complicated by the development of infection (Sucitawati, 2021). Moist Wound
Healing is a method that keeps the wound environment moist to facilitate wound
healing. Moist wounds can be created with inclusive dressing ( closed wound care).
Wound care in a moist atmosphere includes : accelerating fibrinolescence,
acceleratung angiogenesis, reducing the risk of infection, accelerating the formation
of growth factors, accelerating the formation of active cells. Research Results: The
results of this research show that at RSUD Prof.DR.H.M. Chatib Quzwain,
Sarolangun Regency, said that Mr. T's client, who had diabetic wounds, experienced
faster wound healing. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there was improvement in
skin and tissue integrity disorders as well as significant wound healing in Mr. T
clients.
