Suatu tindakan yang tidak menimbulkan efek samping pada ibu dan bayi diperlukan untuk mengurangi nyeri persalinan tersebut. Tindakan tersebut antara lain dengan pijat punggung dengan menggunakan minyak esensial lavender yang dapat membantu meningkatkan relaksasi dan kenyamanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk efektifitas pijat punggung menggunakan minyak esensial lavender terhadap derajat nyeri persalinan Kala I Fase Aktif di IGD Ponek RSUD Lubuk Basung Tahun 2019. Desain penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan rancangan two group pre test-post test. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan pada bulan September dan Oktober 2019 terhadap seluruh Ibu Bersalin Kala I Fase Aktif dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu dengan metode Purposive Sampling sebanyak 20 orang. Data yang terkumpul nantinya akan diolah dan dianalisa secara komputerisasi. Hasil penelitian didapatkan rata-rata intensitas nyeri sebelum kontraksi yaitu sebelum (7,70) dan setelah (8,10) tanpa dilakukan pijat punggung, sehingga tidak terdapat perbedaannya dengan nilai t hitung = 1.144 dan p value = 0,277 dan rata-rata intensitas nyeri sebelum (7,70) dan sesudah (5,40) dilakukan pijat punggung menggunakan minyak esensial lavender sehingga terdapat perbedaanya dengan t hitung =8,558 dan p value = 0,000. Disimpulkan terdapat efektifitas pijat punggung menggunakan minyak esensial lavender terhadap derajat nyeri persalinan kala I fase aktif pada ibu.
