ISPA adalah salah satu penyebab tama morbiditas dan mortalitas penyakit menular di dunia. Penularan infeksi saluran ernapasan akut dapat terjadi melalui air ludah, bersin, udara yang mengandung mikroorganisme penyebab penyakit. ISPA diawali dengan panas disertai salah satu atau lebih ejala, tenggorokan terasa sakit atau nyeri saat menelan, pilek, batuk kering atau berdahak. Banyaknya angka ISPA pada anak berkaitan dengan daya tahan tubuh anak yang elum kuat, sehingga mudah terkena penyakit infeksi. Berdasarkan Laporan Puskesmas Rawang Kota Sungai Penuh tahun 2021 sebanyak 1.941 penderita ISPA, tahun 2022 sebanyak .335 penderita ISPA. Sedangkan pada Januari 2023 tercatat sebanyak 85 penderita ISPA. Walaupun terjadi penurunan jumlah penderita, tetapi ISPA tetap menduduki tingkat teratas alam daftar penyakit terbanyak pada anak. Ada beberapa pengobatan yang dapat diberikan pada anak yang menderita ISPA. Selain pengobatan medis juga dapat diberkan pengobatan komplementer, Diantaranya seperti emberian minuman jahe madu untuk mengatasi batuk berdahak, pemberian nafas dalam dan atuk efektif untuk membantu mengeluarkan sputum, pemberian kompres hangat untuk membantu menurunkan suhu tubuh dan akupresur anoreksia untuk membantu dalam mengurangi gangguan nafsu makan pada anak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa untuk mengurangi ejala ISPA pada anak dapat diberikan pengobatan komplementer seperti minuman jahe madu, latihan nafas dalam dan batuk efektif, pemberian kompres hangat, dan melakukan kupresur untuk mengurangi gangguan nafsu makan. Disarankan kepada petugas kesehatan gar dapat memberikan edukasi kepada orang tua tentang tindakan mandiri untuk mengurangi ejala ISPA di rumah selain pemberian pengobatan medis.
